This quarrying operation was set up to support the construction of a six-lane highway.  Soon after it started production there were many protests from neighbouring residents from nearby villages.  Initially a water spray system was installed – however, in order to achieve the desired reduction in dust levels – excessive amounts of water were required.  This caused operational issues with material becoming too wet, blinding the screens and making the classifier ineffective.  Furthermore, the cost of the water which was being trucked in was prohibitive.

Best-Chem were contacted and invited to recommend a solution.

Best-Chem supplied a 10-zone Foam Generating Unit and deployed nozzles at each of the crushing stages.  The results were instantaneous.

  • Airborne dust levels were reduced by over 95%
  • Water consumption was reduced by 70%
  • Moisture addition was less than 0.5%
  • Operational problems were eliminated
